Woman killed in Hazel Park accident in Michigan
Michigan State Police say a woman was killed in an accident on I-75 southbound in Hazel Park on Tuesday night. The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Stacie Nicole Pennington of Hazel Park.Police say Pennington was driving her Cadillac when she may have been in an altercation with a white GMC pickup truck.
Officers say both vehicles were speeding on I-75 southbound near Woodward Heights when Pennington lost control and overturned. She was ejected and the truck continued on southbound I-75, according to police.Pennington was transported to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital with critical injuries where she later died.According to family members, the loving wife and mother of four loved to laugh and was the life of the party.“Everybody loved Stacie,” said the victim’s brother in law, Reginald Johnson. “All of her friends, her family. She was sweetheart. She was a kind person, very kind. She was somebody who would give you her last, somebody who would give you her last.”
Loved ones are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call police.“If you know anything. If you saw anything, I you have a license plate. If you saw the accident if you even know this gentleman… please turn him in,” said Johnson. The family also has a message for the other driver.“If he’s watching this and he is feeling some remorse and guilt and it wasn’t his intention, you know, turn yourself in. Just do the right thing, do the honorable thing,” said Johnson. “Can’t bring her back. You can’t undo what was done… but you can basically own up to it and be responsible and respectful to the family.”Michigan State Police are looking to speak with the driver of the white, late-model GMC pickup truck. The truck had tinted windows and the new "Pure Michigan" license plate.
