WINDSOR LOCKS, CT : Motorist taken to hospital following crash on I-91 ramp in WL on Wednesday, 14th September 2016
A motorist suffered possible injuries and was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon when a tractor-trailer rear-ended her car on the ramp from Route 20 to Interstate 91 north, state police said.
The motorist, Caryn Lash, 28, of 30 Eastview Drive, Windsor, was taken by Windsor Locks EMS to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, state police said. A hospital spokeswoman could not be reached for comment for an update on Lash’s condition.
According to state police, around 4:22 p.m. Lash was driving on the ramp from Route 20 to I-91 north when she stopped for an accident in front of her that was blocking the right lane. The driver of the tractor-trailer behind her, Lance Ducharme, 46, of Thompson, was unable to stop in time and rear-ended Lash’s car, which caused the truck to jackknife, state police said.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts during the accident, and a five-year old girl in Lash’s car was in a child restraint system, state police said. The girl was not injured, state police said.
Ducharme, who also was not injured, was found at fault in the accident and issued a ticket for following too closely, state police said.
