Smithville, MO : 37-year-old Platte City man dead when cement truck tumbles off bridge near Smithville on Thursday, April 30, 2015

A 37-year-old western Missouri man is dead after the concrete-mixing truck he was driving plummeted off a bridge near Smithville.

The Kansas City Star reports Mark A. Yantis of Platte City was driving east on Missouri Route W around 10:30 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the truck crashed through a guardrail and overturned, rolling down an embankment.

Yantis was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. The highway patrol says he died at the scene.
