Terre Haute, IN : One dead in rollover crash in Vermillion County on Wednesday, October, 18th 2017
One person died and two were injured at roughly 7:25 p.m. Wednesday in an accident on Indiana 163, just west of Indiana 63, in Vermillion County.
Indiana State Police and Vermillion County emergency agencies responded to the one-vehicle rollover crash. It claimed the life of the driver and injured two passengers.
Jayson R. Wallace, age 46, of Clinton, died in the accident.
Injured passengers were Corlin A.W. Yowell, 20, of Clinton, and Dalton T. Creasey, 19, of Hillsdale. Both were transported to Union Hospital of Clinton for what was believed to be minor injuries.
According to police, Wallace was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Indiana 163 when he lost control, traveled across the westbound lanes and entered a ditch area. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest inverted in a field.
Alcohol and speed may have been a factor in this crash. Toxicology results are pending and could take approximately four weeks. Seat belts were in use by all three.
The crash was investigated by ISP Senior Trooper Ted Robertson. Assisting were Black Diamond Fire/Rescue, Clinton Fire/Rescue, Vermillion County Coroner’s Office, Vermillion County Emergency Medical Services, the Montezuma Police Department and Clinton Ford Wrecker Service.
