Immokalee, FL : Two people injured in a hit-and-run crash in Immokalee on Thursday night, October 20, 2016
A Fort Myers man suffered minor injuries and a Lehigh Acres woman was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Immokalee on Thursday night, authorities said.
Michael Chapa, 20, of Fort Myers, was heading east on Roberts Avenue West in his 2015 Dodge Durango around 11:12 p.m. while Lisqueray Williams, 37, of Lehigh Acres, was driving south on State Road-29, just north of Roberts Ave. W, in her 2011 Hyundai Sonata, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Chapa failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Roberts Ave. W and State Road-29 and struck the front right side of Williams' Hyundai with his Dodge, the release stated. Chapa's car overturned and ended in a ditch on the right shoulder of State Road-29, south of Roberts Ave. West, according to the release. William's Hyundai came to rest on the grass of the right shoulder of Robert Avenue West.
Chapa fled the scene but Collier County Sheriff's Office deputies found and arrested him, the release stated.
He was charged with driving with his license suspended causing serious bodily injuries, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, learner's driver license restriction violation, running a stop sign and not wearing a seat belt.
Chapa was taken to NCH North Naples Hospital with minor injuries and Williams was brought to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries.
