Marshall County Correctional Facility in Holly Springs, Mississppi, went on lockdown after an inmate died.
Officials said correctional officers responded to a fight in a housing unit at approximately 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. One inmate was killed in the fight and another was injured.
Oscar Pirtle is the inmate who died in the fight. He was serving a 15-year sentence for aggravated assault.
The other inmate was treated and released from the hospital.
No staff were injured.
The cause of the fight is under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
