Knoxville, TN : Virginia man killed in motorcycle wreck in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Wednesday, May 11, 2016

A 68-year-old Virginia man was killed Wednesday when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a pickup in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, authorities said.

According to park spokeswoman Dana Soehn, Thomas Bailey of Meadows of Dan, Va., was riding his motorcycle at 1:04 p.m. on Little River Road about 1½ miles of the Sinks when it collided with a Toyota Tundra occupied by an Oregon couple.

Bailey was declared dead at the scene. His body was transported by a Rural/Metro ambulance to Blount Memorial Hospital.
