Sacramento, CA : Car crashes precariously close to RR tracks on Wednesday, 31st August, 2016
A one-car crash Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Soledad Canyon and Agua Dulce Canyon roads in the Santa Clarita Valley took out some 15 feet of guard rail and left the vehicle precariously close to the edge of a railroad bridge - but caused no injuries or Metrolink delays, officials said.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol report.
A CHP spokesperson said officers responded and found the car’s driver out of the vehicle but still on the scene. Metrolink and County Roads officials were alerted, the spokesperson added.
While an initial report to CHP said the car was “hanging off side of RR track bridge,” officers later reported it was merely “right on the embankment.”
Metrolink spokesperson Gina Mack said railroad operations workers determined it was “not close enough” to the edge to affect rail service along the Antelope Valley line.
Guard rails at the intersection are partly steel and partly made of wood, with the white paint chipping off the wooden sections.
