Waxhaw, NC : Man was run over and killed on Tuesday morning July 29th 2014

Officials are investigating after a construction worker was found fatally run over on Tuesday morning inside a neighborhood under construction.

Police in Waxhaw say the incident happened on Caesars Head Drive.

WBTV has learned that the worker fell from the back of a flatbed truck which carrying a small backhoe as the driver was backing up the street.

The driver felt a bump and stopped to check, finding he had run over his coworker. Driver appeared to be very shaken.

WBTV has learned the employee was a contractor in a new single family home neighborhood.

Waxhaw Police and OSHA will be investigating, but have no reason to suspect anything other than an accident.
