Ingham Twp, MI : DeWitt man dies in accident involving tractor near Dansville on Sunday night, May 22, 2016

A DeWitt man was killed Sunday night in an accident involving a tractor near Dansville, police said.

Investigators believe 48-year-old Robert Mcanallen was on a tractor, trying to free a second tractor that had become stuck, when he fell and was run over, said Detective Sgt. Greg Harris, of the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.

Mcanallen was working alone at a friend's home in the 1200 block of East Dexter Trail in Ingham Township, and no one witnessed the accident, Harris said.

The accident happened at about 8 p.m. It was unclear whether Mcanallen was doing landscaping work or some other type of job when he was killed, Harris said.

"It looks like it was just a horrible tragedy, a true accident," he said.
