Rochester police say a 19-year-old faces a slew of charges after crashing his car while driving drunk and leaving the scene of the accident

According to authorities, a Dodge Charger driven by Stephen Mercier was traveling on Eastern Avenue on Thursday around 6 p.m. when he tried to pass a Ford Mustang on the right side of the road. The Charger rear-ended the Mustang, causing the Charger to flip over.

Mercier allegedly left the scene of the accident, but he was located a short time later. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, illegal possession of alcohol, conduct after an accident, operating without a valid license and unauthorized use of a propelled motor vehicle.

Police said Mercier suffered a minor hand injury in the crash, but the other driver was not hurt.
