Emergency officials say one person is dead and another injured following a three-car accident in Summerville Tuesday afternoon.
According to SCHP officials, the accident happened at 4:46 p.m. and involved three vehicles: a 2009 Subaru, a 2000 Volkswagon, and a 2005 Honda.
Authorities say the Honda was traveling westbound on Dorchester Road in the area of Sawmill Court when it crossed the median striking the Volkswagon head on which was traveling eastbound.
The Volkswagon then spun and struck the Subaru which was also traveling eastbound.
SCHP officials say the driver of the Honda died from the accident.
According to SCHP officials, all the drivers except the driver of the Honda were wearing seatbelts.
The driver of the Volkswagon was transported to Trident Medical Center with minor injuries.
The Highway Patrol is investigating.
The coroner's office is expected to release the identity of the deceased.
