WHITINGHAM, VT : 1 killed in Whitingham crash on Thursday, 22nd September 2016

One person has died after a crash in Whitingham Thursday.

The accident happened on Tunnel Street around 2 a.m.

Vermont State Police say Patrick Belliveau, 24, of Gardner, Massachusetts, crashed his car into a tree and then ran off.

His passenger, Jordan Belliveau, 20, was airlifted from the scene and later died at the hospital.

Police caught up with Patrick Belliveau a short distance from the crash. He's charged with negligent operation, leaving the scene of a crash and investigators say he may also be charged with DUI.
