HARRISON TOWNSHIP, OH : Teen killed in triple car crash in Harrison Township not wearing seat beat on Monday, 24th October 2016
Investigators are looking into the three car collision is Harrison Township that killed 14-year old Chelsea Bowman and left three others injured.
No charges have been filed in this case, but deputies have searched all three vehicles to make sure there were no drugs or alcohol involved in the deadly crash.
Three vehicles collided at the intersection of Frederick Pike and Philadelphia Avenue in Harrison Township just after 1PM Monday.
Police records state that the silver car Bowman was riding in tried to pass a blue car by crossing the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic. Preliminary investigation revealed the silver car clipped the blue car and hit the maroon SUV head on.
According to officers, 14-year old Chelsea Bowman was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the silver car. Bowman died on the scene. Investigators also confirmed there were two other teens in the car with her at the time of the accident.
Captain Jeremy Roy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said there have been three crashes along that stretch of road in the past year, including Monday’s accident. He said the two previous accidents were OVI related. One involved alcohol and the other involved heroin.
“That was probably one of the most horrific accidents I’ve seen in a long time especially in that stretch of road way there and obviously to have the loss of a life of a 14 year old it was just horrible,” Roy said.
Chelsea bowman previously attended Northridge High School. School officials said Grief counselors will be available all week for students and staff.
