Edmond , OK : One person killed after Violent car Wreck at Covell Road on Saturday ,May 2nd 2015
A person is dead after a violent car wreck in Edmond, police said.
A city worker mowing the grass found the car just before 10 a.m. on Covell Road, between Air Depot Boulevard and Midwest Boulevard.
Police said the driver was headed east, hit the guardrail, launched into the air, flipped over and slammed into the bank.
"There was some type of explosion and fire; as a result of this crash," said Jenny Monroe with the Edmond Police Department.
It's unknown exactly when the wreck happened. The gender of the person killed is also unknown.
Police said a man and car went missing out of Edmond Saturday night.
"That tag number in fact matches the one that's on this car," Monroe said.
Police couldn't immediately confirm if the missing person was inside the car.
"It's not an easy scene to walk up upon," Monroe said.
Covell Road in both directions between Air Depot and Midwest Boulevard was closed for several hours while firefighters cleaned up the wreck and police investigated.
Police said there's nothing suspicious about the crash.
