North Fayette ,PA : 38 - Years old Garnel J. Earley III Killed after he rear-ended FedEx truck on Thursday morning , May 7th 2015

A West Virginia man died this week after he rear-ended a FedEx truck in North Fayette, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said this morning.

Garnel J. Earley III, 38, of Weirton was pronounced dead Thursday at 2:37 p.m. at UPMC Presbyterian, about seven hours after the crash.

Mr. Earley was in a westbound car that drove into the back of the truck at the intersection of routes 22 and 30 in a construction zone while traffic was either at a crawl or a standstill, according to a supervisor at the medical examiner's office.

There were indications that Mr. Earley was driving at a "high rate of speed" but tried to stop, the supervisor said.

The accident happened around 8:16 a.m.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
