Gadsden, AL : DEU agent injured in two-vehicle crash on Thursday, January 5th 2017
A two-vehicle crash Thursday night at the intersection of U.S. 431 and Alabama 77 injured a member of the Etowah County Drug Task Force, according to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
Master Sgt. Jamie Grant of the GSTC 20th Special Forces Group, assigned to the Alabama National Guard Counterdrug Unit and the Etowah County Drug Task Force, was involved in a crash at approximately 7:05 p.m. Thursday evening.
The accident, involving an 18-wheeler, occurred at the intersection of Highway 431 and Highway 77.
Grant was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not seriously injured.
Weather conditions prevented efforts to get a helicopter to the scene to transport Grant for treatment. He was taken by ground ambulance instead.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating the accident.
