Cornelius, North Carolina
A motorcyclist crashed on Interstate 77 south Tuesday night in Cornelius after leading state troopers on a high-speed chase, police said.
All lanes were closed at about 9:30 p.m. near West Catawba Avenue. The scene was cleared for traffic by 11 p.m.
State troopers told they tried to pull over a speeding motorcycle driver in Mooresville.
They said Jeffrey Rion lead them on a chase for six miles -- traveling at speeds upwards of 130 mph.
Rion tried to squeeze between two cars but hit one of them and crashed, according to troopers.
Officials said Rion was the only person hurt.
Troopers said charges are pending once Rion is released from the hospital.
