ANDOVER, KS : Car crashes into transformer in Andover catches fire on Saturday, 18th November 2023

The Andover Police Department confirmed a car crashed into a transformer Saturday afternoon, causing power outages for many.

Police said a vehicle was driving near Andover Road and Douglas Avenue just before 2 p.m. when it left the roadway for an unknown reason.

The car crashed into a transformer and caught fire. Andover police said everyone inside the vehicle managed to get out. No one was hurt.

Police said Evergy arrived on the scene quickly and was able to restore power to most of those affected within 30 minutes.
