A car crashed into a telephone pole on Nathan Ellis Highway on Monday afternoon, seriously injuring the driver and a child in the backseat, a fire official said.
The small sedan struck a pole near 742 Nathan Ellis Highway at about 4:24 p.m. and snapped it, said Falmouth fire Capt. Chad Absten. The car sustained major front-end damage and officials closed the road while the pole was repaired.
Firefighters took the driver and the child, who was strapped into a car seat, to Falmouth Hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, he said. A third occupant was not transported, he said.
