Vancouver, WA : Two people were injured in a crash on May, Saturday, 20th 2017
Two people were injured early Saturday in a crash on state Highway 14 in Vancouver, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash occurred at 12:09 a.m. just east of Lieser Road when a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Hector Lopez, 30, of Madras, Ore., struck the rear end of a 2002 Ford Focus sedan driven by Phillip A. Sutton, 41, of Ridgefield, a WSP bulletin said.
According to police, Lopez was driving west in the right lane at a high rate of speed when he changed lanes and crashed his car into the rear of Sutton’s vehicle in the left lane. The impact pushed Sutton’s car into the center barrier, while the car driven by Lopez went off the roadway and ended up in a ditch.
Hector Lopez and a passenger in his vehicle, Samuel Lopez, 22, of Madras., Ore., were injured. They had not been wearing seat belts, according to the WSP. They were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.
Samuel Lopez was reported in critical condition Saturday evening. Information about Hector Lopez wasn’t available.
Sutton and a passenger in the vehicle were wearing seat belts and were not injured, according to the WSP.
The WSP blamed the crash on excessive speed and said the case remained under investigation.
