Phoenix, AZ : 1 killed, 2 injured after taxi hits utility pole along Interstate 10 on Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2014
Authorities say one person was killed and two others were taken to the hospital after their taxi went off the freeway and hit a utility pole in Phoenix.
The Department of Public Safety identified the victim as 70-year-old Darlene Davidson of Felch, Michigan. She was a passenger in the taxi.
Phoenix and Tempe fire crews responded to the crash Saturday afternoon along Interstate 10 near 40th Street. After pulling three people from the wreckage, the vehicle's engine compartment went up in flames.
Authorities say a man in his 70s and the taxi driver, a woman in her 30s, were both taken to the hospital and were reported to be in critical condition. Their names were not released.
The Department of Public Safety and Phoenix police continue to investigate the crash.
