Lawrenceville, GA : Lilburn police ID driver killed in fatal accident on Thursday, 27th October 2016

Lilburn police announced on Thursday that a 41-year-old Lawrenceville resident was the motorcycle driver who was killed in an accident a day earlier on U.S. Highway 29.

Officials said Prakashchandra Bhagat was weaving in and out of traffic as he headed north on the highway, and using the center lane to pass cars on the road. He hit a Ford Escape that was heading southbound and trying to turn left near Inland Way at 2:23 p.m.

Bhagat was pronounced dead at 2:51 p.m. at Gwinnett Medical Center.

Police said the driver of the Ford Escape was not injured and has not been charged in connection with the accident.

The accident caused traffic tie-ups on the highway because police had to close one northbound lane and one southbound lane on the four-lane road so they could investigate the accident.
