Apple Valley, CA : Three people injured in a rollover crash in Apple Valley on Thursday afternoon, April 7, 2016

Authorities said three people were injured in a rollover crash Thursday afternoon.

The crash was first reported at 1:49 p.m. near the intersection of Central Road and Wren Street.
California Highway Patrol Officer Matt Hunt said a 23-year-old man from Hesperia was driving a 1990 Ford Explorer when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle made an unsafe turning movement. This caused the Explorer to overturn and land on its roof, Apple Valley Sheriff’s Sgt. Marc Bracco said.

At some point during the crash, the Explorer struck a 60-year-old Apple Valley woman in a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. The Explorer was occupied by the driver and another passenger, who both suffered injuries. The driver of the Explorer suffered an injury to his right index finger and was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment, while his passenger suffered abrasions but decided to seek medical treatment on his own, Hunt said.

The woman in the Cavalier suffered a fractured ankle and was taken to St. Joseph Health, St. Mary for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The crash is still under investigation by the Victorville CHP but Hunt said it appeared as though the unsafe turning movement was the cause.
