Orange County, TX : Two injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision in Orange County on Monday night, November 10, 2014
Two men were injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision Monday night on Texas 62 at Walea Road in Orange County, the Texas Department of Public Safety stated in a news release.
The wreck occurred around 8 p.m. when a red passenger vehicle failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and pulled out in front of a Chevrolet SUV traveling southbound on Texas 62. The make and model of the red vehicle is unknown, according to a news release from Trooper Stephanie Davis.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Jerry Covington Jr., swerved to the left to avoid striking the red passenger vehicle, crossed the center line into the northbound traffic lane and struck a Buick passenger vehicle head-on. The driver of the red car did not stop, Davis said.
Covington, 41 of Bridge City, was transported to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas with severe bruising and broken ribs.
The driver of the Buick, 23-year-old William Hunter Fuller of Orange, was transported to Baptist Hospital in Orange. Fuller's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Davis said.
