Officials have released the name of a 62-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman who died in weekend vehicle-pedestrian crashes in Saginaw County. Police in Carrollton Township say Thomas Peil of Bay City was participating in a pub crawl when a van struck him about 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Police say the man died about 4 a.m. Sunday at a hospital. Chief Craig Oatten says the van was well within the 25 miles per hour speed limit and the driver drove near the center of the road to avoid the pub-crawl crowd. The Saginaw New and WSGW-AM say Kathy E. Matthews was hit before midnight Friday while walking in the road from her home to a store in Chesaning Township.
