Lodi, WI : Sheriff’s deputy injured in single-vehicle crash at McGowan Road and Smokey Hollow Road on Friday night, September 9, 2016
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash Friday night involving a Columbia County sheriff’s deputy, officials said.
Emergency crews responded around 9 p.m. to the eastbound lanes of Highway 60 at McGowan Road and Smokey Hollow Road near Lodi, according to a release.
A Columbia County deputy was headed to a domestic disturbance call involving a juvenile and his parents on Pine Hollow Road around 9 p.m., officials said.
The 40-year-old deputy was driving on McGowan Road when he approached an intersection with Smokey Hollow Road, according to a release. The squad car traveled through the intersection and into a private driveway until it collided with a tree.
Officials said the deputy was transporting his K-9 partner at the time of the crash. The K-9 was not injured in the crash.
The deputy was taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
