Nestor, CA : Motorist killed when car smashes into pole on Interstate 5 in Nestor on Saturday, March 26, 2016

A driver was killed after crashing into a pole off of Interstate 5 in Nestor.

The incident happened around 9:10 p.m. Saturday on southbound I-5 near State Route 905, California Highway Patrol said.

A witness told police the vehicle veered off the roadway and then smashed into a pole.

It's unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
