One woman was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision on US 18/64 in the Chesterfield community on Tuesday afternoon.
Norma Carson, 79, of Morganton, was taken by Burke County EMS to Carolinas HealthCare Systems Blue Ridge in Morganton with a head injury. She was charged with failure to yield after pulling out in front of another vehicle, according to North Carolina State Trooper J. Byland.
“The Subaru Outback (driven by Carson) was pulling out of Rader Circle and the silver vehicle was traveling north on Highway 64 and the (Subaru Outback) failed to yield,” Byland said.
The two vehicles collided on U.S. 18/64 causing damages to both vehicles. The severity of Carson’s injuries were not known as of press time.
The passenger in the silver vehicle had minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene, he said.
Agencies that responded were North Carolina Highway Patrol, Chesterfield Fire and Rescue, Burke REACT and Burke EMS.
