MANCHAC, LA : I-55 southbound reopens following fatal multi-vehicle crash on Thursday, 26th October 2023

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that I-55 southbound reopened to traffic Thursday morning.

The DOTD says the interstate will be reduced to one lane near the crash site for the time being.

DOTD bridge inspectors have completed the inspection of southbound I-55 after Monday’s fatal multi-vehicle accident that killed 8 people and injured over 60 other people.
