Madison Township, WY : Bicyclist critically injured in crash in Madison Township in St. Joseph County on Thursday, 8th August 2019

A bicyclist is in critical condition after being hit by a car Thursday.

St. Joseph County police were dispatched to the 11000 block of Pierce Road in Madison Township around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on reports of a crash between a vehicle and a bicycle, according to a news release from the county's Fatal Crash Team.

A jeep driven by a 30-year-old woman was traveling west on Pierce Road when she collided with the rear of a bicycle, according to police.

Evidence at the scene indicated the bicyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of impact and was riding on the roadway, in the appropriate lane, and approximately one foot inside the white line at the time of the crash. The helmet came off during the crash.
