Owatonna, MN : 66-Year-Old woman dead and man injured in a head-on collision on Highway 35 in Owatonna on Saturday, February 14, 2015
A Minneapolis woman died Saturday afternoon following a collision on Interstate 35 in Owatonna, according to a report by the Minnesota State Patrol.
Dianne Evenson, 66, suffered the fatal injuries after her car collided with a vehicle being driven by Eric Lehrer, 55, of Owatonna, the patrol reports. Lehrer suffered injuries that were not life-threatening in the crash.
According to the patrol report, Lehrer was driving northbound on I-35, just north of Hoffman Drive, at about 1:42 p.m. when the car, a 2009 Chevy Impala, crossed the median and collided with Evenson’s car, a 2012 Toyota Camry, which was traveling south.
The road condition at the time of the crash was listed as dry by the state patrol.
Lehrer and Evenson were the only passengers in their respective cars, the patrol reports.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and airbags deployed. No alcohol was detected, according to the report. Both vehicles were reported as totaled.
The Owatonna Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted the state patrol in the incident.
