Two people died and four others were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 39 South in Lithia Saturday night.
Shortly before 7 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to the scene of a traffic crash in the 9200 block of Hwy 39 S., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
A 2012 Ford van was traveling southbound on Hwy 39 just south of Alderman Ford Park Drive crossed the center line and collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Impala nearly head on.
A 2011 Honda Civic traveling behind the Impala couldn't avoid the crash and struck the Impala.
The Ford driver, Todd Johnny Smith, 23, of 454 Old Welcome Rd. in Lithia, and Impala driver, Lloyd Daniel Worth, 44, of 2017 US 41 in Ruskin died at the scene.
Carl Worth, 14, the passenger in the Impala, was flown to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.
The Civic driver, Irma Busi, 64, of 4605 Cheryl Court in Plant City, and her two passengers, Sandiago Morales, 50, of 2126 2nd Ave. E. in Bradenton, and Maria Lozada, 65, of 2126 Second Ave., Bradenton sustained minor injuries and taken by ambulance to Brandon Hospital.
Hwy 39 S. was closed for about five hours between Keysville Road and Thompson Road while traffic homicide detectives work through the investigation.
Alcohol is suspected, the sheriff's report states.
