Dover, N.H : Two people injured after a tractor trailer crashes into Dover, N.H. toll booth on Thursday afternoon, March 5, 2015

At least two people were transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Thursday afternoon after a tractor trailer crashed into a southbound E-Z Pass toll booth on the Spaulding Turnpike.

The force of the crash tore the front tires completely off the truck, striking the cement abutment and destroying the toll booth as it ran through it.

The truck finally came to a stop approximately 50 yards past the toll plaza.

A black motor vehicle was seriously damaged on the passenger side during the crash. The driver of that car, John Worley, 58, of Massachusetts, and the driver of the truck, Roland Joy, 48, also of Massachusetts, suffered minor injuries.

Assistant Fire Chief James Ormond said there was no worker inside the toll plaza at the time of the crash.

The crash happened at approximately 3 p.m. and was considered an active scene for multiple hours as crews worked to clear the roadway. State police sent out a message, saying there would be significant delays and motorists should seek out alternate routes after traffic was reduced to one lane.

It appeared that the truck was hauling gravel. Signage on the truck said it belonged to S.J. D'Agati in Danville.

Ormond said that at the time of the crash, the fire department was called on to respond to a number of other emergency calls. Rollinsford, Somersworth, Durham and Rochester provided mutual aid to the Dover Fire Department as a result.

Sgt. David Kane of the New Hampshire State Police said that the crash is still under investigation, and no arrests had been made as of Thursday evening. Kane said it appears that the crash may have been related to a medical issue.
