Shelton, CT : 24-year-old mother dead after a head-on collision on Thursday October 22 2015

A 24-year-old mother is dead after a head-on collision Thursday night on Bridgeport Avenue. But the woman’s 15-month-old daughter, who was also in her car at the time of the crash, was not seriously injured, police said.
An initial investigation revealed that Buick Century driven by Leigh Sabo, 24, was traveling north near Nells Rock Road and struck a Mazda CX-9 driven by 41-year old, Leigh Brewster, of Monore, who was headed south.
Sabo was transported to Bridgeport hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Brewster suffered minor injuries, police said. Sabo’s daughter was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
Sabo was a former waitress at the Plaza Diner on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton and had also worked at the Stop & Shop in Monroe. She was a member of the Shelton High School class of 2009.
She was a very bubbly person,” said Matthew Batista, 22, who worked under Sabo at Stop & Shop. “The first day I started working with her and we met, we clicked.”
Batista said he was devastated to learn of his friend’s death.
Her daughter was her world, and it’s sad because now the little girl doesn’t have a mom,” he said. “This is surreal.”
No one was available at an address listed for Sabo in Shelton, but a letter left on the door by neighbors expressed condolences for the family.
