NORWICH, CT : 1 dead, 3 injured after police pursuit, crash in Norwich on Sunday, 30th October 2016

Connecticut State Police say a driver trying to elude Norwich police hit another car, killing a 74-year-old man.

Police say Thomas Allan Richter, of Southbury, was pronounced dead at William Backus Hospital Sunday.

He was a passenger in a car that was stopped on Route 2 in Norwich and hit head-on by another vehicle.

Police identified the driver of the second vehicle as 35-year-old Cory Long, of Hartford.

Police say Long refused to pull over for a traffic stop and had engaged the Norwich Police Department in a pursuit.

Long and his passenger were taken to this hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The police report says Richter wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The 72-year-old New Milford woman driving the car was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
