Morristown, TN : Woman was injured in a two vehicle crash on May, Saturday 6th 2017
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a Jefferson City woman was injured Saturday evening in a two vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Cocke County.
Lt. Richard Garrison said the 11:42 p.m. incident occurred in the westbound lanes near the Cosby Highway exit.
Jazi Jade Meyer, 27, was westbound in a 2014 Dodge Charger, but was not wearing her seat belt. The car went out of control, Meyers over-corrected and struck a utility trailer being towed by Jack Richard Shehane, 32, of South Carolina.
Meyer’s vehicle went into the median, spun around and crossed both westbound lanes backwards, leaving the roadway on the right. The Dodge hit a tree as it was spinning out of control, and during the event, Meyer was ejected from the auto.
She was transported to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, where today she is in critical condition.
Meyer has been charged with violation of the due care, seat belt and open container laws. In addition, Garrison says she was driving on a license which had been suspended as the result of a previous DUI conviction. And a DUI charge also is pending as a result of the crash.
Shehane was not injured, however his utility trailer had to be towed in.
