A Neosho man was killed and a Kansas City man injured in a two-vehicle collision at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 49 north of Route V and five miles west of Diamond, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Skyler B. Ernest, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by a Newton County deputy coroner, the patrol said. His body was taken to Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. The other driver involved, Kevin M. Coffman, 53, was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin with minor injuries, the patrol said.
Ernest was driving a northbound pickup truck that ran off the road, crossed the median and struck Coffman's southbound truck rig, the patrol. Both vehicles ran off the roadway after the collision.
• A Washburn woman died of injuries suffered when her car was struck by a train at 11:08 a.m. Wednesday on a private drive off Farm Road 1065 in Barry County, according to the state patrol.
Sylvia M. Hayworth, 73, was taken to Mercy Hospital Cassville, where she was pronounced dead at 11:49 a.m., the patrol said.
She was driving a westbound car and failed to yield the right of way to a northbound Missouri and Northern Arkansas Railroad Co. train, the patrol said.
• A Pineville woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:08 a.m. Wednesday on Missouri Highway 90, about 3 miles south of Pineville in McDonald County, according to the state patrol.
The patrol said a vehicle driven by Elahugh Q. Reed, 22, of Anderson, ran off the road and struck a culvert.
Reed was uninjured, but a passenger in his vehicle, Christina N. Allen, 27, of Pineville, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
• Three Aurora residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 60 at Marionville in Lawrence County, the state patrol said.
The driver of one of the vehicles, Karen J. Kreutzer, 52, and her passengers, Rodeny L. Kreutzer, 55, and Andrea L. Mapes, 33, were taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield with minor injuries, the patrol said.
