A woman killed in a crash Wednesday morning east of Monument has been identified.
Shanon Fontana, 47, of Parker, was a passenger in a car hit by a pickup, Colorado State Patrol said in a news release. She died at a local hospital
The crash on Colorado 83 just north of Colorado 105 closed the road for hours, according to State Patrol.
The three-car crash occurred when a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup entered the southbound lane and struck a 2016 Ford Fusion. The pickup then re-entered the northbound lane, spun and drove off the west side of the highway, flipping before coming to a rest in an embankment.
The Fusion spun into the northbound lane and was hit by a Ford F150 pickup.
Shanon Fontana, 47, of Parker, a passenger in the Fusion, died at a local hospital.
Steven Hogarth, 49, of Parker was driving the Fusion. Mark Hecox, 56, of Colorado Springs was driving the F150. Robert Hefley, 48, of Colorado Springs was driving the Silverado. All three men were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, State Patrol said. All three were wearing seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor in the crash.
