Five people died in a crash in Ringgold County, Iowa, on Friday after a semi collided with a Mitsubishi Outlander that had failed to stop at a stop sign.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 2 and County Highway P-27 west of Mount Ayr, Iowa, about 10:45 a.m., according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
The report said the truck was westbound on Highway 2 and the SUV was northbound on Highway P-27. The SUV passed the stop sign, and the truck struck the SUV’s passenger side. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch, according to the report.
There were seven people in the Outlander, five of whom died. Renea Baker, 49, of Redding, Iowa, drove the Mitsubishi. She was killed along with Redding residents Sydney King, 30; Briane Baker, 12; and Hayden King, 2; as well as 4-year-old Elizabeth Taylor Lakey of Grant City, Missouri.
A 1-year-old child was treated at a hospital and released while another child remains in critical condition.
The truck driver was uninjured.
Everybody was wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
