Monroe County officials say a 15-year-old boy crashed a stolen church bus into an embankment as he fled a sheriff's deputy.
Monroe sheriff's Lt. Brad Freeman tells The Telegraph newspaper (http://bit.ly/1Gly65H ) the Henry County teen's grandfather called authorities to say the boy was driving the bus around in the middle of the night.
The bus was spotted along Georgia 42, seven miles north of Forsyth, around 4:30 a.m. Friday.
Freeman said the bus was recently stolen from a Henry County church after someone apparently left the keys inside.
The bus hit an embankment and wrecked in a ditch after deputies used spike strips to flatten its tires.
The teen was treated at a hospital and taken to the Macon Youth Development Campus. He's charged with eluding, theft and traffic violations.
