Motorcyclist riding with group of cyclists dies in crash in Ocala Florida
A Gainesville motorcyclist riding with a group of cyclists mostly from Gainesville on Saturday was killed when the motorcycle she was riding ran off a Marion County roadway, ejecting the woman, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.Troopers said Marta G. Artenzio-Mills, 58, was heading northbound on a 2005 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle on Northeast 145th Avenue Road in Silver Springs, negotiating a lefthand curve approaching 46th Street, when her motorcycle went off the roadway and she lost control of the bike, ejecting her.Artenzio-Mills was pronounced dead on scene, officials said. She was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.Officials said Artenzio-Mills was riding her motorcycle in a group with nine other cyclists and they were all riding single-file. Speed, troopers say, is not an issue. One of those cyclists, Jeff Gehman, said they are part of a group that enjoys riding. When they meet, they usually go on long bike rides, he said. In those rides, usually every weekend, they will travel to different places and, along the way, they tend to stop at various communities or landmarks to eat and sightsee.Artenzio-Mills was a veteran motorcycle rider with 30 years of experience, Gehman said.
