Smyrna, TN : Pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle west of Old Nashville Highway on Tuesday night, January 19, 2016

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Smyrna Tuesday night.

Smyrna police said around 7:30 p.m., a vehicle hit the pedestrian in the westbound lanes of Sam Ridley Parkway, west of Old Nashville Highway.

The victim was transported to Stone Crest Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.

Police said they do not believe alcohol was a factor and the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
