Davenport, IA : One person is dead after a passenger vehicle crashed into the back of a semitractor-trailer at Interstate 80 On Thursday, May 19th, 2016

One person is dead after a passenger vehicle crashed into the back of a semitractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Davenport late Thursday afternoon, police said.

The crash occurred at 5:22 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-80 just past the interstate off-ramp leading to Brady Street.

The name of the victim was not released Thursday night.

The crash shut down the eastbound lanes of the interstate for more than an hour. Traffic was backed up significantly behind the crash site as Davenport police investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
