The driver of a car that crashed on Fair Oaks Boulevard late last week has been identified as a Santa Clara County man by the California Highway Patrol.

Javaris J. James, 23, of San Martin died shortly after suffering injuries in the crash, authorities said.

James was westbound on Fair Oaks Boulevard near Southcliff Drive at about 7:30 p.m. Friday when he lost control of his car and entered the eastbound lanes, according to authorities. A pickup hit the side of James’ car, throwing him from his vehicle.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead at 8 p.m. Friday.
