Toronto,SD : Motorcyclist critically injured in Torrance crash on June, Sunday 25th 2017

A 25-year-old motorcyclist who crashed into the back of a car in Torrance was reported in critical condition Sunday, police said.

The South Dakota man was hurt at 10:15 p.m. Friday in the collision on 190th Street west of Crenshaw Boulevard, police said.

Witnesses told police the rider of the green 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle was driving east at high speed, splitting between other cars, when he smashed into the rear of a silver 2011 Chrysler sedan.

A third vehicle, a black 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, was struck by flying debris.

The motorcyclist underwent surgery at a local hospital and was reported in critical condition, police said. His name was not released pending notification of his family.

The Chrysler’s driver, a 31-year-old Long Beach woman, and her passenger were not hurt.

Officers closed the eastbound lanes from Yukon Avenue to Crenshaw Boulevard for 4 1/2 hours to investigate.
