Oklahoma City, OK : Pregnant woman hurt after car drives into 7-Eleven on Thursday, December 4, 2014
Authorities are responding to a 7-Eleven at NW 122nd and Council after a car drove into the building.
First responders said the driver lost control in the parking lot and smashed into the building. According to police, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI but will also be seen at a local hospital.
Witnesses said the driver was cooperative after the crash, but they have no doubt about his state of mind.
“The guy is drunk,” Derrick Chovanic said. “There’s no question about it.”
Chovanic said he heard squealing tires just before the driver hit the building.
“It was a mess,” Chovanic said. “He had it floored when he was in there so it was making loud noises and smoke.”
Chovanic said he heard squealing tires just before the driver hit the building.
Witnesses said the car pushed shelves and a cash register when it hit.
First responders said the car also hit an employee -- who may have broken bones -- and the event sent a pregnant customer into contractions. Both were taken to a local hospital.
The driver has not yet been identified.
