UWG student killed in weekend traffic accident in Carrollton Georgia
A University of West Georgia student was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a car near the entrance to the school's football stadium.
Twenty-year-old Matthew Benjamin Dyas was killed Saturday about an hour before the school's homecoming day football game when he was struck by a 2006 Nissan Maxima.
Police charged Gloria Faith Dupree, the Nissan's driver, with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and failure to yield. She was taken to the Carroll County Jail.
Dyas was a member of the school's golf team who had transferred from Georgia Southern University. West Georgia athletic director Daryl Dickey said the death has "devastated" the campus.
