HARRAH, WA : White Swan woman killed in Harrah crash on Wednesday, December, 6th 2017
A White Swan woman was killed Wednesday night when her pickup hit a semi-trailer in Harrah.
Larita Jaramillo, 41, was driving north around 5 p.m. in the 2800 block of Harrah Road when her 1995 Chevrolet C1 pickup struck a semi truck trailer blocking the northbound lane, according to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.
The 2011 Freightliner’s driver was backing the trailer into a driveway along the road, the release said. The driver said he checked to make sure there was no traffic coming before maneuvering the truck toward the driveway, and the trailer was equipped with reflectors and lights, the release said.
Jaramillo died at the scene, Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins said. Deputies said Jaramillo was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
A 3 year-old unrestrained boy ejected from the pickup during the crash was taken to a Yakima hospital with minor injuries, the release said. The child’s name was not released.
The Freightliner’s driver, 64-year-old Gene McGarity of Harrah, was not injured, the release said.
Deputies said intoxicants were not a factor in the crash.
Yakima County Fire District 5, Washington State Patrol and tribal police assisted.
