Car went sideways and hit poleAdrean K. Spencer, 27, of Middletown, was apparently trying to beat traffic to get to an on-ramp from North University Boulevard to Roosevelt Boulevard, said Sgt. Bob Burd, Ohio Highway Patrol Lebanon post.
The 2007 Buick Lacross went sideways and hit a pole just prior to Roosevelt in the accident that occurred about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Burd said. The impact left the man trapped in the wreckage. Middletown fire officials said they were able to extricate him after about 25 minutes.
He must have gotten caught at a point where he felt he had to accelerate to get onto that ramp,” the sergeant said. “Speed could definitely be a factor.”
Spencer was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight where he was listed in critical condition Thursday morning.
No charges are being mulled at this time, Sgt. Burd said, because the investigation needs to be completed first.
